I work in a restaraunt one night a week, I've been there on & off for almost 10 years. There are a lot of regular customers that come in (who have now seen me go through 2 pregnancies). Last night one particular customer pulled me aside ans said to me in a very kind way, " I just had to tell you that you look fantastic! Whatever you're doing, keep doing it." Seriously it made my day! I know that I've lost my baby weight and I'm fitting into smaller clothes than I have in years, but there is just something that makes me feel so good when others notice as well. I hope that doesn't sound really vain, I mean I want to live healthy, have energy & feel great but come on, who doesn't wanna look good too?!

Last night, when I was packing my food for today, it occurred to me that I should bring something extra, because I gave blood today. But don't they provide snacks, you ask? Why yes, they do--orange juice, apple juice...various kinds of pop, and junk food galore.
Am I the only person who finds it ironic that a place that is collecting something that is potentially life-saving, serves such CRAP?!
Anyway, today wasn't my first time, so I was prepared, and brought two lovely juicy oranges to go along with the apple juice. Before I went, I also made sure to eat a bowl of mushroom stew, and a BIG helping of carrot/apple/ginger juice that I juiced this morning before I left for work. So I was prepared, and stayed AWAY from the Frankenfood. I also shared my other orange with my friend, which made her laugh, because she said I must have seen her eyeing the cookies. :)
As a side effect of giving blood, when they pricked my finger to check my hemogloben levels (I so love that part...not!) I discovered that I'm only one point above the cut off for iron! I had no idea! So, being the get-on-er girl that I am, I've researched which foods are the best sources of iron. Most of the best sources seem to be meat, which doesn't work so well for me, since I only eat limited meat in a week, but I'm confident that I can make it up on other ways. Apparently I should be consuming about 18 grams per day, and my vitimin I take has 8 grams, so that's a good start. I also read that it takes a few weeks for the body to shift after changing the diet, so I'll be looking forward to feeling the changes.
On another note, I'd put out a bulletin on my work's electronic bulletin board yesterday, asking if anyone had a good-quality rebounder with at least 5 legs that they'd like to part with (my research indicated that 4 legs would sometimes shoot out from beneath a jumper--not something I want to experience!). I got an email this morning, and get this--I got one for $20!! TWENTY SMACKAROONIES!!!
I'd been looking at them for a while, but I just couldn't spend several hundred dollars on a new one, especially when I was just trying them out. So $20 is awesome!! That I can commit to! lol
I also got a juicer yesterday, to replace my poor departed old juicer who gasped its last rattling breath a couple of weeks ago. It was very traumatic. I thought I could go without for a while, but I really missed the juice! I've been making a juice called Lemon Ginger Blast every day for myself and a co-worker for the past couple of months, and BOY did I notice a difference in energy. Seriously. It has so many kinds of green leafy vegetables that it's probably a really good source of iron... Wait a minute! That's the answer! Get back to making the juice and that should help a lot with the iron deficiency issue! It's FATE I tell ya!!
OK gotta go! Gotta juice!!

I am starting again. I tried the eating clean diet in November but lasted only a week or two. I have just entered the eat clean challenge for 2012 and the pictures I had to submit were a big wake up call. I am determined to stop just thinking and talking about eating better and to just do it. My main goals to start out are to prepare my food for a few days in advance, introduce new recipes slowly so that I do not get overwhelmed and to stay active. Wish me luck!

YAY! The feeling most present is the sense that I can do this. Eating this way makes perfect sense to me. Reading ECD Recharged helped me understand how to eat the way I've always thought I should be eating in order to have the lifestyle I've always wanted, which includes a fit body. So here are my weight loss results:
Height: 5'0
SW: 178
After 1 week: 174
I lost 4 pounds this week. I'm on Cooler 1 because I'm the type of person Tosca described who needs to go all in. Plus, I had just attemped juice fasting, so the thought of eating any food at all was like a dream. I still can't believe how much I'm eating and still losing weight. That's the best part.
I'll do one more week of Cooler 1 then I'll do Cooler 2. Left to my own devices, I will take the easiest route when it comes to eating. I liked the convenience of fast food and that it was one thing that someone else could do for me, one thing I wouldn't have to do for myself. But it wasn't nurturing me, and McDonald's doesn't care about me lol. So I'm nurturing myself. That's what eating clean is about for me.
Best of luck to everyone who's taken their care into their own hands!
